The Phillipa Marlowe Detective Agency: General Female Detective Sites

Sites about female detectives

These sites are about the female detective in fiction, as opposed to the lesbian detective in particular. However there is a substantial overlap between the two categories and many of these sites are worth a visit. A lot also have good links to other sites which cover the detective genre in general.
The Feminist Mystery Corner
This site is under the aegis of the Feminist Majority Foundation, a huge site for feminist issues in general (well worth a visit in itself). There is an on-line bookstore, book reviews, and a good set of links to author pages. There's a bullitin board on which people can post news of events and happenings - and this seems to be updated regularly. The links page is good, going for relevance rather than quantity.
Mystery Ladies
Betty Briggs' Mystery Ladies site. This site majors heavily on book reviews and reading lists, and also has an interesting section on mystery authors and the pseudonyms they've used. There is a links section which provides links to both general mystery fiction sites and also to some author specific pages. Note: if your browser window only shows the index page down to the guestbook, the good stuff is further down the page.
Female Detective.Com
A very extensive site about female fictional detectives in general, with links and author biographies, many of which have pictures so you can satisfy your curiosity regarding what your favourite authors look like! A bit thin on actual lesbian sleuth content per se, but a site well worth a visit.
Kathryn's Mystery Women Salute
Kate Lively's very comprehensive page about female mystery authors and their novels. She has links in profusion to sites about authors (some the author's own home pages) and some book reviews. Well worth a visit.
